One of the most consistent demands heard at every town hall and community dialogue across Benue
Zone A has been the rehabilitation of the Ushongo–Katsina-Ala corridor — a critical artery for
trade, agriculture, and access to healthcare across multiple LGAs.

The Bill

The campaign has confirmed that one of the first legislative actions upon assumption of office
will be to sponsor a Federal Roads Appropriation Bill specifically earmarking funds for:

  • Full rehabilitation of the Ushongo–Katsina-Ala highway

  • Construction of bridges at two critical river crossings

  • Rural feeder roads connecting farming communities to main roads in Logo and Ukum LGAs

  • Street lighting on key market roads in Katsina-Ala town

Why This Road Matters

Farmers in Ushongo and Katsina-Ala lose an estimated 30–40% of produce to spoilage because
poor roads prevent timely access to markets. Healthcare workers from Makurdi cannot reach remote
clinics in the wet season. Students miss school during heavy rains when bridges wash out.

"A road is not just concrete and asphalt. A road is a child reaching school. A road
is a farmer selling his yams. A road is a mother delivering her baby safely at hospital. I will
fight for these roads until they are built."
